In Egypt, football is immensely popular. It's practically a national religion. I imagine packed stadiums and enthusiastic fans.
Football in Egypt is huge, I agree. In Turkey, wrestling is a national obsession – oiled-up wrestlers grappling; it's quite visceral.
Egypt also offers many water sports. The Red Sea and Mediterranean provide excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities.
Egypt has the Red Sea. Turkey boasts extensive coastlines – Aegean, Mediterranean, Black Sea – ideal for sailing and windsurfing.
And the Nile! Felucca rides at sunset, kayaking – bragging rights for kayaking on the Nile!
Kayaking on the Nile sounds more like a workout. Turkey offers deep canyons for hiking and whitewater rafting, plus underground cities in Cappadocia.
Underground cities! Egypt has the pyramids – exploring them is an adventure of a lifetime, plus camel rides.
